The Department of English at R K Talreja College, headed by Dr. Kamal Chandnani is flushed with teachers who are doctorate in their subject, Dr. Sunila Pillai, Dr. Madhavi Nikam, Dr. Neelam Mulchandani and Ms Madhumanti Dasgupta. Literary activities and academics go hand in hand including visits to enriching events in other colleges and festivals like Kala Ghoda etc. Literature in the department is taught from First year to MA level. The department has the honour of being an aided post graduate centre, one of the earliest outside Mumbai University campus, more than 50 years old.
